Our Story

“Some love stories announce themselves with fireworks. Ours arrived quietly: three months of messages, one eleven-o'clock first date, and the slow, certain feeling of having found home.”

The Beginning

Where It All Started

Two students, two impossible schedules: William finishing his master's remotely from his hometown, Shannon starting med school in Greenville. For three months, every plan to meet dissolved into another shift, another exam, another chapter to study. Then came one last-minute yes: an 11 PM first date after Shannon finally closed her books, and a walk around Falls Park under the stars. By the end of that walk, everything was simply better together.

The Adventures

Chasing Waterfalls

Weekends of exploring, stolen from the space between study breaks: William happily procrastinating his work to make time, Shannon waking earlier and earlier to make more of it. Somewhere between the waterfalls and the drives home, forever started to feel obvious.

The Hometown

Falling for Greenville

Summer nights at Fluor Field, Saturday mornings on Main Street, and one enthusiastic mascot who has no idea he made the wedding website. Greenville became our city, which made choosing where to say “I do” the easiest decision of all.

The Everyday

Better, Together

Road trips and quiet milestones, cheering each other through exams, presentations, and everything in between. It turns out the grandest romance lives in ordinary days spent showing up for each other.

One February Afternoon

She Said Yes

On a hushed winter afternoon, on the way to see a musical, William suggested a brief stop at the place where it all began: the very spot of that 11 PM first date. There, with the mist still hanging in the trees, he asked. Shannon barely let him finish. This December, we celebrate with everyone we love.

Cocktail Hour

Champagne, winter botanicals, and passed hors d'oeuvres in the mezzanine gallery while we steal away for a few portraits. The martini press is ours; the first toast is yours.

6:00 PM

The Reception

A seated dinner beneath the ballroom's chandeliers, followed by toasts, a first dance, and a full dance floor. Wear shoes you can celebrate in.

A Note on Attire

Our dress code is suits and long dresses. Gentlemen: a tailored suit in navy, grey, or charcoal, a crisp dress shirt, a tie, and leather dress shoes; no tuxedos needed. Ladies: a long dress, floor-length or maxi. Winter jewel tones are always welcome, and bring a wrap or overcoat for the December evening air.

The Setting

The Westin Poinsett

For a century, the Poinsett has stood at the corner of Main and Court: twelve stories of brick and limestone, crystal chandeliers, and a lobby that has hosted Greenville's grandest evenings since 1925.

We fell in love in this city, and there was never really another choice. On December 12th, the ballroom will glow with candlelight, the mantels will be dressed in evergreen and winter roses, and the doors will open for the best night of our lives.
